Popular Nollywood actor, Stephen Damian speaks on the alleged sexual harassment and rape in the movie industry.
The actor had said in an exclusive interview that, the fact that sexual harassment or rape takes place on a daily basis doesn’t mean it should not be accepted as a norm. In his words,
“Sexual harassment is wrong be it in the entertainment industry all elsewhere, and And it should not be encouraged, I am against any type of sexual harassment,”
When asked if he had been sexually harrased since he joined the industry in 2014, the statistician and computer scientist by training responsed saying
“No, I haven’t be harassed since I joined Nollywood”
Speaking further on other things, Damian talked about his expectations to work with top directors like Kunle Afolayan, Tope Oshin, Mildred Okwo, and Genevieve Nnaji even after he had featured in some big Nollywood productions that include Wedding Party, Washerman, Disguise and Sabotage.
He also expressed his view on the need for the government to support the Nigerian movie industry, he says,
“Nigeria industry is an industry that has strived on its own without the support of the government, the industry has propelled itself to the position it occupies today and little push from the government will take it to a whole new level.”
