Veteran Nollywood actress and producer, Genevieve Nnaji has recorded another success as she was one of the invitees from 68 countries eligible to become members of the Oscars Academy, which is responsible for nominating and deciding the winners of the illustrious film awards.
Genevive’s film ‘Lion Heart’ had received a primary nomination at the most recent edition of the Oscars in the ‘Best International Film’ category. Lion Heart was later on dropped as a contender for the award.
In a new statement released by the Academy, the 819 invitees from 68 countries include Nigeria’s Genevieve Nnaji and Akin Omotoso among other artists and executive selected for their immense contribution to the theatrical motion picture.
The latest list also spots the Academy’s A2020 goal of increasing the number of women and people of colour in its membership.
Other notable mentions include Cynthia Erivo, Ladj Ly, Bernie Taupin, Matthew A. Cherry, Florence Pugh, John David Washington, Eva Longoria, Zendaya and Awkwafina
