Popular online streaming service, Netflix has offered its apology for the releasing an “inappropriate” marketing poster for he promotion of the forthcoming French movie, “Cuties”.
The poster which was released by Netflix captures the young girls of the film in suggestive dance poses. A petition from Change.org demanded for the removal of the movie from the streaming platform, describes it to be,
“disgusting as it sexualizes an eleven-year-old for the viewing pleasure of pedophiles and also negatively influences our children.”
“need for such content in that age group, particularly when sex trafficking and paedophilia are so rampant.”
This is immediately followed by an apology from Netflix which read;
“We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Mignonnes/Cuties. It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film which won an award at Sundance,” Netflix shared on Twitter. “We’ve now updated the pictures and description.”
