Japan’s Prime Minister Resigns Due To Ill Health

Shinzo Abe, the prime minister of Japan has announced on Friday August 28, his decision to resign after his eight-year tenure due to health failures.

According to reports, the 65 year old prime minster had been vomiting blood. He also said that he had suffered a relapse of a chronic bowel condition stating that he had ‘lost a lot of his energy and strength’ and would need constant medical treatment which would prevent him from tackling the Coronavirus crisis.

To this end he said in a press conference;

“I have been struggling with my illness and I have to get treatment. Poor health should not lead to wrong political decisions,”

The speculations about the Prime Minister’s health began after his several visits to a hospital in Tokyo within a week.

Abe suffers from colitis, a non-curable inflammatory bowel disease.
