17 Arrested For Destroying Ijaw Leader’s Tomb


A total number of 17 persons have been arrested at the Bolowuo community of Ese odo local government area in Ondo State for the destruction of the mausoleum which housed the tomb of the late King of Zion II, Dr. I.O Jemine who died in 2014.

Bolowuo community is a riverine community in Ondo State mostly dominated by the Ijaws. The Perimeter fencing of the multi million naira mausoleum was destroyed and the valuables in the tomb stolen. Reports from an eye witness said that some youths and elders had carried out the attacks after getting information that the new spiritual leader and son of the late leader, Epistle Princewill Jemine, has been arrested and detained by the police.

The witness said that Princewill and his brother, George, whom their father made a Chief were at loggerhead over the superiority contest.

A retired policeman in the community, Doharty Lelegha Foloki, the disagreement between both brothers led to the crisis in the community.
