Protesters from the Aguleri community in the Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, on Monday, demanded for the sacking of two traditional rulers from the area for joining other monarchs in the state on a trip to Abuja without the approval of the state government.
The group of protesters which consisted mainly of elderly people, stated that the suspension of the monarchs by the state government was not enough punishment in the circumstance.
They gave an example of the Billionaire oil magnate, Prince Arthur Eze, who had led 12 monarchs from the state to Abuja to see the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) last week. This action was to be an affront by the state government.
They demanded for the removal of Igwe Alex Edozieuno of Ukpunangbo and Igwe Udoji Iloegbune of Eziagulu Otu from the Aguleri clan for undertaking the Abuja trip.
Chidi Onwuegbune, the spokesperson for the protesters, , said,
