The deputy Director of the Federal Ministry of works, K.Y Ibrahim has announced the plans of the Federal government to close the Kara bridge end of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The Director stated in a letter addressed to the Lagos State government that the bridge will be shut down so as to enable an integrity test of road worthiness to be carried out. This was following the claiming of two lives by a fuel tanker. Noting that the bridge will be shut from Friday-Sunday to ascertain its serviceability after the fire incident.
According to Ibrahim;
“We now request the suport of the Lagos state government in terms of handling the expected high traffic volume that may be generated along the axis during the work and also help to evacuate the wreckage of the accident still on site”
