Ivan Rakitic is set to seal a return move back to his previous club from Barcelona after Sevilla and Barcelona reached an agreement today.
The midfielder, who was a backup player during the 2019/20 campaign had 22 appearance out of his 42 outings in all competitions for the Spanish giant.
It was reported by Spanish news outlet Marca, an agreement between Barcelona and Sevilla has been reached and the deal is secured.
The move is subject to Rakitic passing a medical, which is likely to take place soon.
“I have a special affection for Seville, but directly to the city, I have my family there. I have always said that it would be a great dream to wear that shirt again, everyone knows it, but it is not my own decision.”
According to Spanish publication Sport, the former Basel man will take more than a 50% pay cut in order to move to Sevilla, and will earn €3.7m per year compared to the annual salary of €7.8m that he earned at Barcelona.
The agreement between the two clubs will see Barcelona receive a fee between the €5m to €10m mark for Rakitic, who found the back of the net 35 times in 310 appearances for the club,
