Nigerian NBA Star Bags ‘Most Valuable Player Award’


Giannis Antetokounmpo, a Greek-Based Nigerian NBA star, has emerged with the award for the Most Valuable Player for the second straight season.

The 25 year old star, who plays for Milwaukee Bucks basketball team in the US, is the third player in league history to win MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season joining only Hall of  Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon. He is also the 12th player in history to win the NBA’s MVP award twice in a row.

Antetokounmpo had beat out James Harden of the Houston Rockets and LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers to win the award, earning a total points of 962 from a global panel of 100 sportswriters and broadcasters as well as the Kia NBA Most Valuable Player Award fan vote.
